Lawn Mowing Is A Test Of Patience By Mansfield Lawn Care

For preserving the health and beauty of the lawn, periodical mowing is highly essential. If the growth is unchecked, it would definitely prove to be an eyesore for all. Overgrown grass would become the safe haven for weeds and dangerous pests. With the invention of mechanical and electrical mowers, maintaining the lawn in good condition is not difficult. If your lawn is small, hand-held mowers would suit the purpose but in the case of big lawns, you definitely need riding mowers to finish the job easily and rapidly.

Mowing is a step-by-step process that has to be executed with enough care. First of all, you have to decide whether your lawn is ready for a haircut or not. Additionally, a little bit of knowledge about how to mow should also be of great help. If you are a total novice, there are chances that you may cut some areas deeper than required. Even though the process does not require much expertise or strength, you need to have a good mower and a pinch of patience to make the process a success.

Automatic grass catches are there for larger and powered machines and they are the ones which are most appropriate for bigger lawns. This is because there is no need of a clean-up once the mowing is done. In case of smaller spaces and neighborhoods which are busy, reel lawn mowers are the best ones owing to their ability to work silently. User manuals are available with every mowing machine and they provide instructions on how to make good use of the device. It would be really effective if you read the instructions thoroughly and set the height of the wheel at the desired levels. There are some grasses like fescue which should not be cut to less than two inches, whereas warm season grasses can be cut down to even half inches according to the season.

Walk around the lawn before beginning the process and make sure that there are no loose obstacles under the grass. There is a possibility of finding children’s’ toys, bones which are hidden by your pet dogs etc, which are potential threat for the blades. Be careful to remove them before starting the machine.

The best pattern in mowing is to move ahead and back, but never in a spiral pattern. You have to maintain a steady pace so that the grass is cut evenly and your blades are not clogged. It is still better if you can do it in early morning than waiting for the sun to hot up. It is no wonder that many people consider lawn mowing as a form of workout too.
